Project Overview
On-site planning was completed first, after which columns and beams were fabricated at the workshop. The installation team then erected the structure at the Perdeberg site in the Free State, and the client approved the work after review.
Scope of Work
- Fabrication and installation of a 12x30 portal frame with two link-to bays
- Roof and wall sheeting scheduled for the following two to three weeks
- Final touch-ups and handover instructions after sheeting
Execution Method
Beams were received and prepared at the workshop, fabrication proceeded to programme, and the full frame was installed on site by an eight-person crew.
Why This Approach
The client selected the portal-frame design with two link-to bays for its structural performance and practical layout requirements.
Major constraint: Sheeting is a follow-on activity planned for the next two to three weeks, so final close-out depends on that schedule.
Results
The main steel structure was completed quickly and safely, with client approval secured after site review. The project is now positioned for sheeting and final completion.
