Project Narrative
Project Overview
Columns and beams were received at the workshop and fabricated from scratch before the team installed the portal frame at the remote Free State site. Sheeting and touch-ups were then completed, and the client approved the finished structure.
Scope of Work
- Workshop fabrication of the 20x30 portal frame
- On-site installation of the full steel structure
- Roof and wall sheeting completion
- Final touch-ups and project handover
Execution Method
Beams were received at the workshop and fabrication began immediately. The crew completed the steelwork fabrication in roughly one week, installed the structure successfully on site, and then completed full sheeting. Sheeting ran over a two-week period, with touch-ups closed out in the same week as final handover.
Why This Approach
The client selected the portal-frame layout for a practical farm-implement structure that could be fabricated efficiently and installed reliably on site.
Major constraint: Sheeting required careful sequencing after frame installation to keep final close-out on programme.
Results
The completed structure received strong feedback from the client and generated two follow-on client leads, with local farmers praising the overall finish and appearance.
Completion Highlight
Finished on time with full sheeting, touch-ups, and client approval completed by May 15, 2026.
